FCA Warning List

What is this website?

The FCA Warning List is a web tool that helps members of the public to find out more about the risks associated with an investment opportunity and avoid investment scams.

How does it work?

The website provides guidance related to the type of investment someone is considering and how they heard about it. It helps people search a list of firms that the FCA knows is operating without its permission. And it gives people guidance on further steps they can take to help them ensure they avoid scams.

What is the Warning List?

The tool is named after the list that the FCA keeps on firms that are operating without authorisation or running scams. We add firms to our warning list as soon as possible, but we don’t know of all firms operating without authorisation or running scams.

You should not assume a firm is legitimate just because it is absent from the list. You should check that it is actually an authorised firm by checking the Financial Services Register.

Even if you find the firm’s name on our Register, bear in mind that businesses are sometimes found to be fraudulently operating under the names of authorised firms.
